The joy of shopping — and how to recapture it online TED Talk
TED described this presentation as “shopping is about more than just what you buy: it’s a treasure hunt to discover something new, a negotiation to get a great deal, a time to catch up with friends and family. But for many, online shopping has turned the experience into an impersonal, unsatisfactory event. Is there a way to bring back the magic? With exciting examples from companies in India, Thailand and China, consumer expert Nimisha Jain introduces us to “conversational commerce,” a new retail model that combines the convenience of a digital experience with the personalized touch of a real, human interaction.”
This video really helped inspire our company to find little ways to make the digital shopping experience something magical for our customers. We didn’t want to get lost amongst other small boutiques, we wanted to be different. This presentation gave Bello Couture Boutique the inspiration we needed to set ourselves apart from the competition.
How to Make the Transition Article
This article written by Meg Nanson at Volusion, encourages you to think about your digital business in a different frame. Small Business Forbes Article
This article reflects on how the world has changed regarding online shopping since the COVID-19 pandemic. More and more people want to shop online and not in-person. A survey from Incisiv conducted in August 2020 shows that:
- 85% of shoppers have increased curbside pickup
- 79% of shoppers say contactless pickup is important
- 80% of shoppers expect to use contactless and curbside pickup more in the next six months.
As a small business, it is important to cater to the needs of your customers as best as you can. After learning about this information, Bello Couture Boutique began offering local curbside pickup. This way, our customers could shop our boutique online, from the comfort and safety of their homes. Then they could pick it up at their convenience without ever having to get out of their car. When customers would select “curbside pickup” at checkout, they would receive a text notification to click on when they arrived at the store. They would specify where they would like their bag placed; trunk, passenger seat, or back seat. This would notify the Bello Couture Boutique employee to bring their package out to their car and place it in their pre-determined location.
